High school sweethearts Áine and Abram met during their Senior year at The Marin School in San Rafael, CA. Áine had a crush on Abram and thought why not join the boys’ basketball team to get closer to him? Clearly, it worked! Áine and Abram celebrated their love for one another, surrounded by a lifetime of friends and family cheering them on.
When choosing a wedding venue, Áine was looking for a wedding location that would reflect her love of horses and the outdoors. It also had to be a place where her first love, her horse Murphy, could also attend. Olympia’s Valley Estate in Petaluma, CA provided the perfect backdrop for this whimsical boho barn wedding.
The bride wore a lovely gown inspired by vintage lace. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were in shades of blue/grey which added a moody elegance to the natural backdrop. Florals were in the bride's favorite soft pale hues of blush and apricot featuring David Austin and garden roses.
Guests signed hearts and dropped them into a frame --- a lovely keepsake for the bride & groom. Parasols were handed out to offer shade.
The beautiful estate with its sprawling property, quaint Victorian farmhouse, beautiful pond surrounded by weeping willows and elegantly refurbished barn, was an idyllic setting for Áine and Abram to celebrate their love. The ceremony took place overlooking the pond and guests were treated to the sounds of both the bride’s and groom’s heritage with Irish musicians playing and the traditional breaking of the glass as the crowd welcomed the newlywed couple.
After the ceremony guests were welcomed to the lawn outside the Victorian farmhouse to enjoy cocktails and games before dinner and the party began. Meanwhile, our mischievous bride couldn’t resist a quick canoe ride with her new hubby.
Inside the barn, the decor was simple and bohemian chic. Elegant lace table runners were accented with single-stem florals chosen from the bridal bouquet and placed in a carefully curated glass bottle collection. Rustic signs, dramatic marquee lights, and beautiful floral accents were used throughout the venue.
One special touch was the “Wish You Were Here” photo wall, which paid special tribute to family members who are no longer with them. And especially to Abram’s beloved sister Lily. The night ended with a sweet surprise for the couple; a candy buffet gifted to them by their wedding designers, Jamie & Julie at Flair Event Design + Planning.
